Become a Timmy Stones Volunteer!
If you love Timmy, Oliver, and all the other pets who have been harmed by OTC flea & tick products and want to help us spread the word, we need you! We have lots of different ways that volunteers can help – every idea and skillset can be put to use!
Our volunteer needs are:
TIMMY STONE ARTISAN Level ONE: The first is filling orders in your area that were ordered off the website. This means you receive orders from HQ or your Regional Strike Force Commander, create the stones (two per order), ship the order out to the person who ordered it and let your contact know when they were shipped so we can track our progress. If you need shipping reimbursement, you need to first be able to front the money and then submit a form for reimbursement. We reimburse our Artisans, when needed, as soon as possible, but may move that to once or twice a week if we receive a high volume of requests.
Things to keep in mind: We currently do not make enough to cover shipping for all orders. The money in the Timmy Stone fund is certainly there if you need it, however if you can cover some shipping costs yourself, that’s very helpful to our cause.
TIMMY STONE ARTISAN Level TWO: This is a great option for US based Timmy Stone makers who want to make Timmy Stones, but either cannot afford shipping out orders individually or who have sporadic time constraints due to health, work or other life-elements.
You create Timmy Stones in volume, and fill a square medium flat rate Priority USPS mail box. These are free from your local post office, or from usps.com. Once they are filled with Timmy Stones, you let us know how many you filled it with and that your package is ready. We send you a pre-paid label. These might go to fill regular orders, but until the end of March 2013, they will all go to fill our quota of 2,000 Timmy Stones for the MTAC, which is an anime convention in Tennessee that we have been asked to attend and provide Timmy Stones for the first 2,000 attendees.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR: A full-fledged Volunteer Coordinator will receive orders and send them out to volunteers and Strike Force Commanders, follow up to make sure that the orders are being tended to, update our order list when orders have been reported as sent with the date of sending or notification or sending. The Volunteer Coordinator will also re-balance orders in case one volunteer or area controlled by a Strike Force Commander falls behind in fulfilling orders, or is speedy at filling orders.
STRIKE FORCE COMMANDER: A Strike Force Commander is responsible for a group of volunteers. This will either be divided by region, country, state or because they have access to a large group of Timmy Stone Makers. They act as a point of contact between the Volunteer Coordinator assigned to them and HQ and the Timmy Stone Artisans working with them. They will follow up on orders, make sure there are no issues, report the dates of filled orders and re-balance orders to reflect the real-life situation of the volunteers in their Unit.
INTERNATIONAL STONES COORDINATOR: Since we don’t want to ask people to ship multiple orders outside their country, we need someone to find volunteers in countries where we are getting more than two orders from. For example, RUSSIA.
NON-PROFIT STATUS RESEARCHER: As we recently grew from 100 orders in a year to over 4,000 orders in a few months, we need to look into obtaining a non-profit status to help keep this project moving forward. We need a volunteer who can research what needs to be done to obtain a 501c3 non-profit certification.
SOCIAL GURU: Our Social Gurus will keep the Timmy Stones Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter accounts up to date and active and may also contribute to the website at TimmyStones.com. It requires posting pictures of Timmy Stones, both created and found, and to weave the Timmy Stones story. It may also include doing some viral promotions, such as a give away of special Guest Artist or Celebrity created Timmy Stones. The Social Gurus will also help with promoting any of our Timmy Stones Fundraising to help cover the costs associated with Timmy Stones.
ORGANIZATIONAL PIXIE: An Organizational Pixie looks at all things operational within Timmy Stones and sprinkles their magic fairy dust to either make something function better, fix an issue or create a new solution we didn’t know we needed. This could include how to track orders, how to report orders, how to best contact volunteers and increasing our internal communications. It might be a little bit of FileMaker, Evernote, Kibits, DropBox and something we don’t know about or haven’t thought of yet.
We are in dire need of a central library for documents such as our Timmy Stone Artisan Guide and the Thank You For Your Order inserts and the shipping reimbursement forms. We also are swamped with orders and no good way to really organize them and get them our to volunteers.
MAKING IT LEGAL: A legal eagle or enterprising novice to help us submit for non profit status, and coordinating with HQ about the ins and outs of doing so including time, activities and costs. As part of this, we may bring on board a grant writer to cover the costs of applying for non-profit status and maintaining Timmy Stones for the future as an organization. The grant writer might be the same person, or another person.
